Session: Hereditary cancer research updates
Speaker: Timothy Rebbeck, PhD; Steven Narod, MD; Melinda Telli, MD
This 60-minute general session panel discussion will focus on new and emerging areas of research
specific to hereditary cancer. Panelists will provide updates on ongoing research efforts at their
institutions. Researchers will present on:
- modifiers of hereditary cancer risk
- effectiveness of surgical risk-reduction in high-risk women
- targeted therapy for hereditary cancers
- available hereditary cancer clinical trials
This session is appropriate for:
- cancer survivors, previvors, and high-risk individuals with a BRCA mutation or hereditary
cancer in their family
- spouses, partners, relatives, loved ones of people with a BRCA mutation or hereditary
cancer in the family
- patient advocates, support group facilitators, and people who work with cancer
survivors and people at high risk for cancer
- health care providers who provide care to survivors and people at high risk for cancer
- Social workers/mental health care professionals who provide care to survivors and people
at high risk for cancer
